Donna Edwards, born on 18 February 1975, along with William Edwards and Elysia Jones, both of unknown ages, all residing at Gelligaeros Bungalow, Cwmffrwd, Carmarthen SA32 8DG, have been convicted in 2025 of illegal dog breeding.
William Edwards and Elysia Jones were found guilty of unlicensed dog breeding following a prosecution initiated by Carmarthenshire County Council.
Donna Edwards, who also breeds horses under the name Ffynnoncadno Irish Draughts, previously operated Gelligaeros Boarding Kennels with her partner Mark Thomas.
However, from October 2020, the facility was converted into a breeding kennel.
Despite informing the council that there were 19 dogs kept at the property, Donna Edwards never submitted an application for a breeding license.
The council issued warnings that were ultimately ignored.
In April 2021, classifieds website Pets4Homes notified the council after discovering three accounts under the names Donna Edwards, William Edwards, and Elysia Jones that promoted puppies for sale from Gelligaeros Bungalow, Cwmffrwd.
An investigation by the council revealed that the trio had advertised eight litters of puppies on the site between June 2020 and March 2021.
The court sentenced Donna Edwards to a 12-month community order, including 70 hours of unpaid work, and ordered her to pay a victim surcharge of £85.
William Edwards received a similar sentence, with a 12-month community order, 50 hours of unpaid work, and an £85 victim surcharge.
Elysia Jones was handed a 12-month conditional discharge along with a £20 victim surcharge.
Together, the trio is required to pay a total of £81,509.93 under a proceeds of crime order.
