HELENSBURGH MAN BANNED FROM CONTACTING EX AFTER STALKING
A HELENSBURGH offender has been barred from any contact with his ex after being convicted of tracking her vehicle.Scott Fulton previously pleaded guilty to placing the woman in a state of fear and alarm by putting a tracking device in the vehicle to follow her movements.
He persistently phoned and texted the victim, recorded her while sleeping and attended at her work.
The offence was committed between July 23, 2022 and August 27, 2024 at a property in the town.
It was aggravated by being against a partner or ex.
The 48-year-old, of Castlegreen Lane, Dumbarton, appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on March 28 for sentencing.
His solicitor told the hearing: "He appears on a serious matter before your lordship and he is obviously anxious about that." When he was advised of the relationship ending, the lawyer said that was the "catalyst for him losing his mind".
The solicitor recounted that his client said: "I lost my mind.
I didn't know how to deal with it." Sheriff Maxwell Hendry interrupted the solicitor to say further details were not needed in open court.
"His choice of how to deal with the situation might suggest a focus for [social work] supervision," he said.
"I agree there is not really a focus for it." The solicitor said: "He has suffered a penalty.
His own behaviour has caused him to suffer greatly." Sheriff Hendry said "There are ways of dealing with a stressful situation" and Fulton's crime fell into a different category.
He ordered him to do 140 hours of unpaid work in the community within 12 months.
He must refrain from any form of contact with his ex for four years.
