SCOTT FARRELLY FROM GATESHEAD AND NEWCASTLE SENTENCED FOR VIOLENCE AND ABUSE
In a case that has drawn significant attention in the North East, Scott Farrelly, a resident of Gateshead and Newcastle, has been handed a two-year prison sentence following a series of violent and abusive acts directed at a woman with whom he was in a relationship.The sentencing took place at Newcastle Crown Court on May 29, 2025, where Farrelly was found guilty of multiple serious offences, including assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH), criminal damage, and stalking.
Farrelly admitted to the court that he had engaged in stalking behavior that caused no fear, alarm, or distress to the victim, as well as damaging property valued at less than £5,000.
However, the court also convicted him of more severe charges after a trial, notably the assault that resulted in actual bodily harm.
The judge sentenced him to two years in prison, with a minimum term of nine months before he becomes eligible for release on licence.
Additionally, a restraining order was issued to ensure the victim’s protection from further contact or harassment.
The woman at the center of this case, who has chosen to remain anonymous, described a long history of emotional and physical abuse inflicted by Farrelly.
She characterized him as a manipulative individual who led a double life, showing no remorse for his actions.
She recounted that Farrelly had a pattern of cheating, stealing, and engaging in repeated violent episodes.
The most recent incident occurred in December 2024, when she had taken him out for his birthday.
Instead of expressing gratitude, Farrelly responded with a brutal assault, leaving her physically injured and emotionally traumatized.
The victim emphasized that this was not an isolated incident.
She explained, “He’s attacked me on several occasions and mentally abused me for years.
He’s dangerous, and this isn’t the first time he’s done this.” Her account underscores the ongoing danger posed by Farrelly, who has a documented history of abusive behavior.
Further compounding the case, it was revealed that Scott Farrelly is already listed under Claire’s Law, a domestic violence disclosure scheme that allows individuals to find out whether their partner has a history of abuse.
This detail highlights the persistent concern about repeat domestic abusers who continue to cause trauma despite prior warnings and interventions.
