‘HORRIBLE DIRTY BEAST’ RAPIST JAILED FOR NINE YEARS AFTER ATTACKING WOMAN IN HER HOME
A rapist who attacked a woman who asked for his help as he walked past her house has been branded a "dirty horrible beast" and jailed.William Flamson was asked by the victim if he would move some bags of rubbish but after doing so he forced himself on her before leaving.
Flamson denied rape, even "ludicrously" claiming the victim not only consented but initiated the sexual activity which took place.
However he was found guilty by a jury at Newcastle Crown Court and has now been locked up for nine years.
As the 41-year-old, of St Cuthberts Court, Bensham, Gateshead, was sentenced, a victim impact statement was read from the victim, who said: "My life changed forever on that day I was raped by Flamson.
While I'm now trying to rebuild my life, it won't be the same." "I consider him to be a horrible dirty beast who has ruined my life." "Through his actions I'm no longer able to do the things I used to enjoy.
Since he raped me, I've been unable to sleep and if I could sleep I would regularly have nightmares, seeing his face and reliving what he did to me.
I couldn't sleep in my own bed for months." "I used to take several showers a day and scrub myself clean because I felt disgusting and dirty and I would scrub myself until I was raw." She added that the rape affected her relationship with her partner but said he has been supportive and helped her rebuild her life.
She said that the attack had affected her so badly she even contemplated suicide.
She added: "Going through the trial was horrendous.
Seeing him sitting there, being called a liar when I'm not a liar.
The only person who had lied was Flamson." "He knew he raped me but didn't have the decency to admit it.
The jury saw through his lies and convicted him." She expressed her hatred towards Flamson, wishing him suffering in prison, and detailed his previous convictions, including offences against women, but none for sexual crimes.
He was sentenced to nine years, must sign the sex offenders register for life, and was given an indefinite restraining order.
Judge Roger Thomas KC described Flamson as a "feckless individual" who ludicrously claimed consent, and emphasized the severe psychological harm inflicted.
Defense attorney Shaun Routledge noted Flamson's cocaine habit and efforts to address it in prison.
