ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT JAILED FOR ATTEMPTING TO GROPE TEENAGE GIRLS ON BOURNEMOUTH BEACH
A man who entered the UK illegally and attempted to inappropriately touch two teenage girls on Bournemouth beach has received a prison sentence.Satwinder Singh, aged 32, pursued two girls aged 15 and 17 on separate occasions, which took place within minutes of each other.
Originally from India, Singh moved to the UK in 2012 but overstayed his visa.
The first incident occurred near Harry Ramsden's on the promenade, where Singh approached the younger girl and her sister while they were with family.
When asked if she was 18, Singh then made a comment suggesting that 15 or 16 was acceptable.
He tried to touch her breasts, causing her sister to tell him to leave.
Singh, who required a Punjabi interpreter due to limited English, was later seen returning to friends who responded with laughter and pats on the back.
Later that day, Singh approached two 16-year-old girls after one fell off an electric scooter.
While helping her up, he put his hands very close to her chest.
When her friend sought police assistance, Singh was detained.
He denied two counts of attempted sexual assault but was convicted at Poole Magistrates' Court and sentenced to a year in prison.
The court acknowledged that Singh had been working in the UK as a cash-in-hand laborer on construction sites since his arrival.
Since the incidents, the first victim, whose identity remains confidential, has suffered from anxiety and has reduced her school attendance.
Prosecutor Laura Lokh highlighted that both events occurred on June 17, 2023, and noted the profound effect on the victims, with one girl reportedly still struggling to leave her home seven months later.
Following his sentence, Singh is likely to face deportation, with a Home Office official affirming their commitment to removing foreign nationals who commit serious crimes from the UK.
