WIGAN TEENAGER SAMUEL AINSCOUGH SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF CHILDREN IN WIGAN

In a case that has shocked the community of Wigan, Samuel Ainscough, a 19-year-old man from Manor Street, Newtown, was sentenced to nine years in prison after being found guilty of multiple serious sexual offences involving three young children.

The court heard that Ainscough’s actions were of a highly predatory nature, targeting vulnerable minors for his own sexual gratification, and his crimes have left lasting scars on his victims.

Judge David Aubrey, QC, presided over the case at Liverpool Crown Court and described Ainscough as a “predatory” sex offender.

The judge emphasized that the conviction was supported by compelling and overwhelming evidence presented by the jury.

Ainscough was convicted of ten separate offences, including two counts of rape, sexual assault on each of the victims, inciting a nine-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity, and making indecent images of children.

One of the victims, a young girl whose identity remains protected for legal reasons, was just six years old at the time of the abuse.

Her mother described her as “a broken little boy,” highlighting the profound impact the trauma has had on her.

The other two victims, both girls, have also been deeply affected, suffering from nightmares, sleep disturbances, and emotional distress.

The mother of one of the victims, who was nine at the time of the offences, provided a poignant impact statement, revealing that her daughter has become “very clingy” and that her school performance has suffered as a result of the trauma.

The court was told that the offences came to light in the autumn of 2015, after police seized Ainscough’s laptop.

An analysis of the device uncovered a total of 129 indecent images, categorized across all levels of seriousness.

This evidence played a significant role in the conviction, illustrating the extent of Ainscough’s deviant behavior.

During the sentencing hearing, Judge Aubrey condemned Ainscough’s conduct, stating, “You took the opportunities when you could to abuse very young children.

You did so in a predatory manner for your own sexual gratification.

Your deviation is illustrated by what was found on your computer.

You took away their innocence.” The judge also criticized Ainscough for his lack of remorse, saying, “You did not have the strength of character to admit your wrongdoing.” As part of his sentence, Ainscough was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and was subjected to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

The court’s decision reflects the severity of his crimes and the need to protect the community from further harm.

Prosecutor Andrew Ford explained that the offences were uncovered after Ainscough was caught behaving indecently with the older girl, which led to her revealing that he had repeatedly raped her.

The investigation also revealed that Ainscough had engaged in bullying behavior towards the boy, who was between seven and eight years old at the time.

The impact statements from the victims’ families painted a grim picture of the lasting damage inflicted by Ainscough’s actions, with one mother describing her son as “a broken little boy,” and another expressing her anger that Ainscough had not admitted his guilt.

Throughout the trial, Ainscough maintained his innocence, denying all the charges.

Nevertheless, the jury found him guilty on multiple counts, leading to his subsequent imprisonment and the imposition of strict legal measures aimed at preventing any future offences.
