MAN JAILED FOR RAPE

On Friday, 19 December, a man was sentenced to prison for raping a woman in St Helens.

Greg Brookes, aged 37 and residing on Farm Meadow Road in Wigan, appeared before Liverpool Crown Court where he received a prison sentence of four years and four months.

Additionally, he was granted a five-year restraining order aimed at the victim.

Brookes was convicted of raping a woman who was at least 16 years old after a trial that lasted one week earlier this month.
