BIRMINGHAM WOMAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL ELDER ABUSE AND ROBBERY

A woman responsible for assaulting and robbing an 87-year-old man has received a prison sentence of seven years and six months.

The victim's family shared a photograph of his torn and bloodied face to illustrate the brutality of the attack carried out by Samantha McDonnell.

The 37-year-old broke into Hasbury Court, a residential complex in Bartley Green, Birmingham, operated by Birmingham City Council and offering sheltered housing for seniors and those in vulnerable situations.

The elderly man was left with a broken nose and a brain bleed, leading him to vacate his residence due to safety concerns.

McDonnell admitted to charges of theft, robbery, and burglary during her appearance at Birmingham Crown Court on 28 April.
