BOURNEMOUTH WOMAN FINED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON BUS IN ALCOHOL-INDUCED INCIDENT
A woman named Samantha Eyers, aged 59, was convicted of sexually assaulting a man on a bus in Bournemouth after allegedly mistaking him for her boyfriend.According to court proceedings, she got onto the bus with a different male but chose to sit directly next to the victim.
CCTV footage showed that during the journey, Eyers attempted to engage the man in conversation, even showing him things on her phone.
Subsequently, she reached under his arm and touched his groin area, which caused the victim to react immediately and ask the bus driver to stop so he could leave.
After exiting, he reported the incident to the driver.
Eyers admitted to police that she touched the man but claimed she was very intoxicated at the time.
She believed she was touching her boyfriend, who she was with when she boarded the bus.
Eyers has no previous convictions, and her legal counsel described the act as "out of character," attributing her behavior to alcohol influence.
She has significant debts and lives on disability benefits, and it was noted that she is trying to reduce her alcohol consumption and seeks to join AA meetings.
The judge fined her £300 for the sexual assault.
