CLYDEBANK MAN FACES LIFETIME ORDER AFTER HEINOUS ONLINE CHILD ABUSE
A Clydebank paedophile used his mobile phones to message children for indecent photos while pretending to be a 10-year-old girl.Sam Lewis, aged 35, was first caught with indecent images nearly a decade ago and now faces a potential life-long order at the High Court due to the risk he poses.
Authorities found thousands of images across four phones and revealed he tried to entice children via Snapchat, WhatsApp, and TikTok.
Lewis had already pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images, but shortly after the court case, he resumed his offending.
His second spree lasted three days before police arrived to ensure he registered as a sex offender.
During investigations, he admitted to having four phones, one of which was named 'Mia.' He told police he was Mia, and on one occasion, asked a girl to film herself on the toilet.
He also engaged in sexualized chats with children, exchanging images and pretending to be a girl aged between 10 and 14.
Devices contained 6,771 images, of which 240 were in the most serious category.
Lewis discussed with minors online, sharing explicit images and engaging in sexualized conversations.
An English offence from 2017 was also uncovered during interviews.
Sheriff Hendry expressed significant concern over the ongoing offending despite bail conditions and emphasized the need for a psychiatric assessment before possible lifetime restrictions.
Lewis's actions have been ongoing for approximately eight or nine years, with the court noting unanswered questions about his behavior and motives.
