KNIFEMAN LEFT WOMAN BLEEDING UNDER CHRISTMAS TREE AFTER RAID
A KNIFEMAN forced his way into a Worcester house during the night and attacked a woman before slashing a police officer who had arrived to help.Sam Brown, of no fixed abode, burst into the house in Ashford Road at 3.30am on December 27 last year where he attacked his ex-partner, punching her and stamping on her head.
Her terrified 19-year-old daughter called the police saying she was afraid Brown would kill her mother, Worcester Crown Court heard.
There was a restraining order in place preventing Brown from contacting his ex-partner after he had attacked her previously.
Footage captured by a police officer's body-worn camera was shown to the court in which she could be seen lying injured under a Christmas tree, bleeding.
A teenage girl was crying and said: "He forced entry, I didn't know what to do." The court heard that his ex-partner was afraid that the defendant would kill her as he had come at her with a knife and threatened to cut his own throat.
A police officer helped Ms Bosworth to a sitting position where she said: "He kicked me in the head, he said he's going to get me charged for murder." The court was told that Brown was pepper-sprayed by police but waved the knife towards a police officer, cutting his finger.
As the police pursued Brown, shouts could be heard on the camera of: "He's got a knife, he's got a knife." Brown ran into the garden and escaped by jumping over a fence.
A knife was found in the garden.
The court was told that Brown was later arrested after a drone and a dog were drafted in to help track him down.
Appearing before the court via a video link from HMP Hewell, 40-year-old Brown was jailed for a total of three years for breaching a restraining order, section 20 wounding, threatening someone in a private place with a bladed article, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assaulting a police officer.
Judge Martin Jackson said: "I've to sentence you for a series of offences that were committed in the early hours of December 27.
"You got yourself very drunk.
You said you had no idea what had happened until you woke up in the cells.
You had gone to the address of your former partner, you had forced your way in at 3.30am and proceeded to threaten her with a knife.
You threatened to kill her and assaulted her which was witnessed by her 19-year-old daughter.
"They must have been terrified." Judge Jackson said when police turned up, Brown did not comply but pushed a knife towards an officer cutting his finger.
"You then ran out and had to be tracked down by the police using a drone and when arrested, spat at a police officer."
