A man responsible for raping and sexually abusing a young girl has been given a prison sentence of 22 years and three months.
Philip Lakey, aged 63 and from Worcester, was found guilty at Worcester Crown Court on Friday after initially pleading not guilty during his first hearing.
A jury convicted him of several sexual offenses involving a single victim.
The crimes, committed between 2019 and 2022, included four counts of raping a child under 13, two counts of touching a child under 13 inappropriately, and six counts of engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
After the sentencing, Detective Constable Phillippa Stevens commented that she was pleased with the lengthy sentence, emphasizing the severe impact Lakey’s actions had on his victim.
The court also issued a 25-year sexual harm prevention order, a restraining order, and mandated that Lakey remain on the sex offenders register for life.
