SALMAN YOUSAF SENTENCED IN LONDON FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON WOMAN ON THE UNDERGROUND AND STREET

Update 29/05/2026: A man described as a 'calculated' sex offender, who targeted women on night Tube trains, has been sentenced to over four years in prison following an investigation by the British Transport Police (BTP).

Salman Yousaf, aged 46 and currently held at HMP Pentonville, pled guilty to nine charges, including eight counts of Sexual Assault and one charge of Outraging Public Decency.

During proceedings at Inner London Crown Court on 20 May, a judge sentenced him to four and a half years behind bars, with an additional four years to be served on licence after his release.

He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life and issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

Yousaf was initially serving a seven-year sentence when, in 2024, detectives from the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) informed BTP about his approach to offending.

This new information was cross-referenced with ongoing investigations into sexual crimes on the London Underground, where Yousaf’s actions matched those involved in unresolved cases, linking him to multiple offences.

Through detailed enquiries, authorities connected Yousaf to a total of nine incidents that took place between 2017 and 2021, all occurring on night-time trains.

The earliest offence was on 11 March 2017 at around 5am, when he exposed himself and masturbated in front of a woman on a Central Line train near Stratford.

Subsequently, in eight other instances, primarily on Central and Jubilee Line services, Yousaf targeted women, often choosing those who appeared to have fallen asleep.

He deliberately sought out vulnerable victims during late-night journeys.

Yousaf was arrested while in prison on 16 April 2024, and he refused to answer questions during police interviews.

Initially charged with nine offences by the CPS, he eventually changed his plea to guilty as the trial approached, admitting to all charges.

The incident, which took place in the early hours of April 29, 2023, involved Salman Yousaf, a 43-year-old resident of Woodgrange Road, E7, who was convicted after a week-long trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

According to court proceedings, Yousaf lured a woman off a tube train before subjecting her to a sexual assault on a street in West Ham.

The victim, who was alone and asleep in an empty carriage after a night out with friends, was targeted by Yousaf, who then followed her to Durban Road, E15, where he committed the assault.

The attack has shocked the local community and prompted renewed efforts by the Metropolitan Police to combat violence against women and girls in London.

Yousaf was found guilty of two charges: sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault.

The court sentenced him to seven and a half years in prison, emphasizing the seriousness of his actions and the need for justice.

The police investigation revealed that Yousaf was a repeat user of Forest Gate Railway Station, which helped officers track his movements on the night of the attack.

Metropolitan Police officers utilized CCTV footage from the night of the incident to identify and locate Yousaf.

They gathered evidence of his previous activities and movements, which led them to speak with staff at Forest Gate Railway Station.

Using an image captured from the CCTV footage, officers successfully identified Yousaf and made his arrest.

The police reaffirmed their commitment to protecting women and bringing offenders like Yousaf to justice.

The victim-survivor of this assault has publicly urged others who have experienced similar crimes to come forward and report them to the police.

She expressed her hope that sharing her story would encourage others to seek help and justice.

She stated, “If anything like this happens to you do not be afraid to come forward, you will start your healing process once you see justice has been served.

I am happy to know that he will be off the streets for a long time and unable to hurt anyone else.”
