BOURNEMOUTH MAN JAILED FOR 11 AND A HALF YEARS FOR RAPE AND DRUG OFFENCES
A man named Saeed Robleh, aged 34, who assaulted and raped an intoxicated woman at the Travelodge in Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, was sentenced to a total of seven years in prison. The victim, a guest at the hotel in her 20s, was reportedly vomiting into an en suite bathroom when Robleh targeted her, raping her during this vulnerable state.
Robleh denied charges of assault by penetration and rape, but was found guilty of both after a trial at Bournemouth Crown Court earlier this year.
Jurors heard that the victim was left "very shaken and frightened" and that police had issued an appeal to locate Robleh, releasing a CCTV image of him.
The court also learned that Robleh was already serving a 54-month sentence for possessing and attempting to supply crack cocaine, which involved around £3,500 worth of the drug.
For his new crimes, Robleh was sentenced to seven years for rape and five years for assault by penetration, to run concurrently, totaling seven years.
These sentences will be served consecutively to his existing sentence, resulting in a combined total of 11 and a half years of imprisonment.
The judge highlighted Robleh's "worrying attitude towards women" and suggested there was an element of entitlement.
The court acknowledged the significant impact on the victim, with her stating she was "traumatised" and resorted to drinking and drugs to cope.
The conviction followed Robleh's arrest in mid-March 2014, after detectives traced him following the incident.
The case also included mitigation from his lawyer, Jon Mitchell, who emphasized the opportunistic nature of the rape and noted Robleh's criminal history related mostly to drugs.
The court's decision reflected the serious harm caused to the victim and the ongoing effects on her life.
