DEWSBURY MAN CONVICTED FOR ASSAULTING PARTNER AND HER MOTHER
A violent man named Sabeel Ayub, aged 26, committed a serious assault on his partner after finding texts from another man on her phone.
He punched her in the face, resulting in bruising around her eye, and caused damage to her iPhone by smashing it.
When her mother intervened to help her daughter, Ayub grabbed her wrist, causing her pain and discomfort.
Police attended the scene, but his partner refused to provide a statement.
Her mother, however, gave evidence that could have led to his conviction.
Ayub later pleaded guilty on the day of his trial to two charges of assault by beating and criminal damage.
He has a history of violence dating back to his youth, including a prior incident where he caused a head injury to his partner.
Additionally, Ayub has previous convictions for violence, including a 2013 community sentence for dangerous driving and vehicle theft, and a 2015 jail sentence for involvement in a car crime ring worth over £250,000.
Magistrates sentenced him to a community order with requirements such as a 33-day relationship program, 10 days of rehabilitation activities, 120 hours of community work, and ordered him to pay £50 compensation to the victim’s mother, along with court costs and a victim surcharge.
An indefinite restraining order was also imposed, barring him from contacting the victim or visiting her in Headland Lane.
