MAN JAILED FOR ATTEMPTING TO ABUSE 12-YEAR-OLD ONLINE AGAIN
A high-risk sexual offender has received a four-year prison sentence at Newcastle Crown Court following a second attempt to target a 12-year-old online.
Ryan Pearson, who had prior convictions for similar crimes, was convicted after breaching the terms of his suspended sentence.
Last year, Pearson avoided immediate imprisonment after sending sexual images of himself to an undercover police officer, mistakenly believing he was communicating with a minor.
Despite this, he continued his offending behavior, which led to his latest conviction.
In April, Pearson reached out to an individual he believed was a 12-year-old girl using Kik, maintaining contact even after being told her age.
He inquired about her school uniform, mentioned finding uniforms ‘cute,’ and discussed sexual topics, including pornography.
Pearson then transmitted explicit images, including two photos of his genitals and a sex video, and asked her to show herself in her pajamas.
He was detained the following day.
The court was informed that Pearson had previously received a ten-month suspended sentence in January for attempting sexual communication with a minor and inciting sexual activity but had continued offending despite these measures.
Judge Robert Adams sentenced him to four years in prison, also imposing a sexual harm prevention order and registration obligation.
The judge highlighted Pearson's significant potential to pose further harm to children.
His solicitor, Robin Turton, described him as a man with a previously diligent work history.
Originally from Jarrow, Pearson now has no fixed address.
