HARTLEPOOL MAN JAILED FOR KNIFE THREAT AND ASSAULT ON EX-PARTNER
A violent individual identified as Ryan May from Hartlepool has been sentenced after a violent attack on his ex-partner and her brother. The incident, which occurred on October 9, 2022, involved May holding a large carving knife up to his former girlfriend and threatening to stab her.
During the assault, May also forcefully kicked his ex-girlfriend in her stomach and repeatedly kicked and kneeed her brother in the face.
The brother reported that he suffered a busted nose that was bleeding following the attack.
Initially, May was given a court order by Teesside Magistrates' Court requiring him to complete unpaid work and attend rehabilitation sessions to address his violent tendencies.
However, he failed to fulfill these court obligations, prompting a court appearance at Teesside Crown Court.
His partner attended the trial, expressing that they are back together again and that May had completed a 'Building Better Relationships' course as part of his court order, which they both considered very beneficial.
The court learned that May has previous convictions for battery from 2018.
Judge Tom Mitchell sentenced May to five months in prison, with release expected after serving approximately eight weeks, which is 40% of the sentence.
The judge emphasized the seriousness of the violence, stating, "The tail does not wag the dog.
I ordered you to do the work.
You didn't do it.
I'm afraid the back door is the only way.
I accept she's taken you back." May's address is listed as Moffatt Road, Hartlepool.
