A teenage boy was killed in a road incident involving a speeding driver who had his cousin and a young child in the vehicle.
The incident occurred while the teen was cycling with friends.
The driver, Ryan Elsender, accelerated to 71mph on a 30mph street to overtake a group of youths, resulting in a collision with 16-year-old Jayden McGuinness.
Jayden sustained fatal injuries in the crash, which took place weeks after his father’s death.
It was also revealed that Jayden had lost his mother at age 12.
During the incident, Elsender’s passenger was Jayden's cousin, who was devastated upon exiting the car to realize his relative had been struck fatally.
Elsender, aged 29 and residing in Lichfield Avenue, Walker, admitted to charges of causing death by dangerous driving and reckless driving.
He was subsequently sentenced to eight years in prison.
