GLASGOW RAPIST RYAN BROWN GETS SENTENCE DOUBLED ON APPEAL
A rapist has had his prison sentence extended at the High Court in Glasgow following a successful appeal by the Crown.Ryan Brown was jailed for seven years after being convicted of sexually abusing two young children at the High Court in Glasgow in July 2024.
The Crown and Procurator Fiscal Service asked the court to consider imposing a longer custodial sentence due to the serious nature of the offences and the appeal was upheld.
The 36-year-old's original sentence has now been replaced with a 14-year extended sentence, with the custodial part set at 11 years.
The Crown can only appeal if the sentence is unduly lenient, meaning it falls outside the range of sentences the judge could have considered appropriate.
Kenny Donnelly, Deputy Crown Agent for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, said: “COPFS is committed to improving the criminal justice journey for victims, from the stage of reporting all the way through to sentencing.
