BELFAST MAN JAILED FOR VOYEURISM AND REVENGE PORN
A Belfast man named Ryan Bell has been sentenced to 12 months in custody after admitting to charges of voyeurism and revenge porn.The court heard that on September 14th last year, the victim discovered Bell had taken photographs of her while she was naked.
She contacted the police, leading to Bell's arrest after he returned from London where he had moved following a kidney donation to his father.
Investigations revealed Bell had sent one of the images to his own father.
The victim stated in a police report that she felt "let down, embarrassed and humiliated that images of her when she was naked took away her ability to feel secure in her own body." She also expressed concern about the potential resurfacing of these images and her loss of trust.
Bell pleaded guilty to disclosing a private sexual photograph, observing a woman doing a private act for his own sexual gratification, and sexually assaulting her.
The judge assessed Bell as a medium risk of reoffending but not a danger to the public, leading to his sentence of nine months active and a suspended three months for disorderly conduct, totaling 12 months in custody.
No Sexual Offences Prevention Order was deemed appropriate.
The case drew significant attention due to the serious nature of the offenses and the victim's distress.
