NORFOLK NURSE STRUCK OFF AFTER FALSELY ACCUSING COLLEAGUE OF SEXUAL ASSAULT
A nursing professional who falsely accused a colleague of sexual assault has been disqualified from practicing.Ruxandra Nicoleta Sarbut, employed at Buckingham Lodge Care Home in Watton, Norfolk, reported that her colleague had touched her bottom, intending to falsely portray him as a sexual offender.
Sarbut told senior staff she planned to make the claim after suspecting him due to complaints about her conduct, which included using inappropriate language with residents and staff, pushing residents, administering sedatives inappropriately, and falsifying records.
The claim was made in February 2023 following a whistleblowing complaint to the Care and Quality Commission (CQC).
The investigation revealed she described the supposed incident as the colleague lifting her off the floor with his hands on her bottom, and she told others she was going to accuse him of sexual assault.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council found her misconduct proved many of her claims false and guilty of serious misconduct, leading to her being struck off the register.
The misconduct hearing established she exhibited a lack of integrity, shouted at residents, called colleagues stupid, and made derogatory comments, jeopardizing residents’ well-being and undermining professional standards.
She was banned indefinitely from practicing in her profession unless she successfully appealed within 18 months, reflecting the severity of her misconduct and breach of trust.
