KEVIN DENT FROM BROMLEY AND WATTON ESCAPES PRISON AFTER CHILD INDECENT IMAGES DISCOVERY

In September 2017, a man identified as Kevin Dent faced serious allegations related to the possession of indecent images of children.

Dent, who was formerly residing in Bromley, Kent, but had since moved to Norwich Road in Watton, Norfolk, appeared before Croydon Crown Court to answer these charges.

During the court proceedings, Dent admitted to the offence of making indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of a child.

The case was built around evidence that police had uncovered on his mobile phone, which contained numerous images depicting young girls.

The images were primarily of prepubescent girls, highlighting the disturbing nature of the material found.

Despite the severity of the allegations, Dent was not sentenced to immediate imprisonment.

Instead, the court handed down a sentence of eight months in prison, but this sentence was suspended for a period of 24 months.

This means that Dent would not serve time in prison unless he committed another offence within the suspension period.

Furthermore, the court ordered Dent to undertake all Rehabilitation Activity Requirements as directed by an authorized Probation provider for a duration of 60 days.

This measure aims to address his behaviour and prevent future offences.

In addition to the suspended sentence and rehabilitation requirements, Dent was subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which will remain in effect for ten years.

This order is designed to restrict his activities and monitor his behaviour to protect the public from potential harm.

He was also made subject to the sex offender register for a period of ten years, ensuring that authorities can keep track of his whereabouts and activities during this time.

The case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and judicial authorities to combat the distribution and possession of child exploitation material, even when offenders are not immediately incarcerated.
