MAN JAILED FOR STALKING WOMAN AND ATTACKING COP
A man currently serving time in prison has received an extension to his sentence after being convicted of assaulting and stalking a woman.Russel Jackson, who resides on Hart Street in Ulverston, pleaded guilty before South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on September 10 to multiple charges including stalking that caused no fear, alarm, or distress, violation of a stalking protection order, assault by beating, and assaulting a police officer.
Court documents revealed that Jackson engaged in a stalking campaign against the complainant from March 1 to August 12 of the previous year.
His actions included shouting at her, knocking on her residence, using foul language, shouting outside her home, peering through her windows, and entering her property.
He also admitted to breaching an interim stalking protection order on August 6 and August 11, 2024, as well as a full stalking protection order issued on March 17 this year, which had been originally imposed by magistrates on July 23 of the last year.
Jackson further admitted to assaulting the same woman by physically beating her on July 15 of the previous year.
In addition, he was sentenced for attacking a police officer on June 23, 2024.
The court records indicate he has been in custody since March 19 this year.
Due to the seriousness of the offenses, which caused considerable distress over a prolonged period and showed a blatant disregard for court directives, magistrates sentenced Jackson to an additional four months in jail.
Alongside his custodial sentence, Jackson was ordered to pay £85 in court costs.
