WOMAN JAILED FOR ASSAULTING HER BOYFRIEND AT HIS FLAT IN ULVERSTON
A WOMAN has been locked up for assaulting her boyfriend.Katie Gardner, 36, who is currently serving a custodial sentence at HMP Styal, pleaded guilty via a video link to assault by beating at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on December 11.
Prosecutor Peter Kelly opened the case.
He said: “This offence was committed in a domestic context.
She is the long-term partner of the complainant.
On the evening of July 15 this year, she went to his flat in Ulverston.
She was unwelcome and was asked to leave.
She refused and pushed her partner to the chest before pinning him up to wall whilst he was in the process of calling the police.
She was on bail at the time with conditions not to have any contact with the complainant.
He went on to retract his statement.
The court heard Gardner was jailed for an assault against the same victim on November 17 this year.
In mitigation, Andy Gallagher said: “She has a significant history of convictions in the last year or two.
It is a single push containing no injury.
She has spent a considerable period of time in custody and has a tendency to come out and commit further offences.
When she is released she will be homeless.
If you impose a custodial sentence, I ask for it to be kept to a minimum.” Magistrates imposed a two-week jail term and ordered Gardner to pay £85 in court costs and a £154 victim surcharge upon her release from custody.
