ROY DOVE FROM SCARBOROUGH AND NORMANBY GETS SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR BREACHING COURT ORDERS
A resident of Scarborough has been handed a suspended prison sentence after repeatedly violating court-imposed restrictions aimed at preventing further sexual offences.
Roy Dove, aged 53, was under a sexual harm prevention order and was subject to police notification requirements due to his previous convictions in 2014.
Despite these legal restrictions, Dove continued to breach the court’s conditions by engaging in deceptive online behavior, including using pseudonyms in emails and changing his Facebook profile name to avoid detection.
The court was informed that Dove has a history of serious sexual offences involving children, including convictions for possessing indecent images and other related crimes.
The judge noted that Dove’s repeated breaches demonstrated a blatant disregard for the court’s orders and the safety of the community.
As a result, he was sentenced to four weeks in prison, a sentence that was suspended for twelve months, taking into account the time Dove had already spent in remand and the recent violations.
In his previous criminal record, Dove was found guilty of downloading and possessing a large number of indecent images of children, with one particular offence involving the possession of thousands of such images.
This led to a substantial sentence of 40 months in prison in 2015.
The court emphasized the critical importance of ongoing monitoring and enforcement of restrictions for offenders like Dove to mitigate any potential risk to children and to uphold public safety.
