ROSS PULLINGER'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN BLACKBURN AND WEST LOTHIAN REVEALED
In October 2019, a series of disturbing sexual offenses committed by Ross Pullinger, a resident of Blackburn, came to light through a high-profile court case.The allegations detailed a pattern of predatory behavior that spanned over several years and involved victims of various ages, including a young girl as young as four and a teenage girl in West Lothian.
Pullinger, aged 42 at the time of sentencing, was convicted of multiple serious sexual offenses following a trial at the High Court in Livingston.
The court heard that he had molested a girl at a house in Blackburn when she was only nine years old, in 2003.
During this abuse, he sexually touched her and coerced her into touching him, demonstrating a disturbing pattern of exploitation from an early age.
Further allegations revealed that Pullinger assaulted the same girl again, this time raping her in Bathgate, West Lothian, during a period between December 2008 and December 2009.
The court was also informed of his heinous acts against a second child, a girl who was merely four years old at the time, beginning in 2003 at various houses in Blackburn.
These acts of abuse highlight the extent of his predatory behavior over several years.
In addition to his offenses against children, Pullinger was also found guilty of attacking an adult woman in Blackburn.
The assault, which took place between January 2007 and August 2008, involved an attempt to rape her.
He reportedly demanded she have sex with him, pulled her by the legs, and tried to remove her trousers, demonstrating a violent and threatening approach during the attack.
One of the most alarming incidents occurred in West Lothian, where Pullinger targeted a 15-year-old girl in a town park in Bathgate.
He grabbed hold of her and threatened her during a rape ordeal, adding to the list of his disturbing crimes.
This attack was part of a broader campaign of sexual violence against victims of different ages and backgrounds.
During the sentencing at the High Court in Edinburgh, Lord Uist emphasized the gravity of Pullinger’s crimes, stating, “Your crimes have had serious effects on your victims.” The judge also pointed out that Pullinger’s actions warranted a significant custodial sentence, reflecting the severity of his offenses.
He was sentenced to seven years in prison and an additional nine months for failing to appear at a court hearing in December of the previous year.
Furthermore, Lord Uist ordered that Pullinger be placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions following his release.
Pullinger, who was already in custody in Edinburgh, had initially denied the charges but was convicted of four sexual offenses after a thorough trial.
His defense counsel, Niall McCluskey, acknowledged that a custodial sentence was inevitable given the nature of his crimes, underscoring the seriousness with which the court viewed his actions.
