COVENTRY NURSE BANNED FOR SHARING INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
Ross Palmer, who was employed at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire, was discovered to have downloaded and distributed five indecent images of children between December 2019 and January 2020.After police searched his residence, he confessed to these actions during an interview, revealing that he was attracted to the images after gaining access through Dropbox several years earlier.
Palmer then shared the images with an unidentified individual via an internet-based application.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council described these acts as 'sexually motivated in pursuit of sexual gratification.' Due to his conduct, Palmer was suspended from his position at UHCW in May 2020 and was later dismissed following a criminal investigation, though no charges were brought against him.
On July 10, a hearing determined that the Nursing and Midwifery Council would remove Palmer from the nursing register, citing a 'risk of repetition' and noting his conduct was 'significantly below the standard expected of a nurse,' despite occurring in his private life.
The tribunal highlighted Palmer's admissions to both police and his employer regarding his misconduct and stated he is now employed by a food manufacturing company, not practicing as a nurse.
The NMC concluded that his actions could not be corrected and could pose a future danger to children, establishing impairment on the grounds of public protection.
University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire confirmed that they suspended Palmer as soon as the allegations surfaced and supported the NHS decision, clarifying that the misconduct was limited to his private life.
