ROBERT STILES FROM BODMIN SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN TRURO

A resident of Bodmin, Robert Stiles, has been handed a three-year prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to multiple serious child sexual offences. The 53-year-old man, who resides on Beacon Road in Bodmin, appeared before Truro Crown Court to face charges related to his inappropriate conduct involving young girls.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Mr Stiles committed a series of six sexual offences against minors, specifically girls aged 12 and 13, during the months of July and August in the year 2024. The court heard disturbing details of his actions, which included causing a 13-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity involving penetration. This act is considered a grave violation of the victim’s rights and a serious criminal offence.

Furthermore, the court was informed that Mr Stiles attempted to incite a 12-year-old girl to engage in masturbation, an act that underscores the severity and predatory nature of his misconduct. These revelations highlighted the extent of his criminal behaviour and the harm inflicted upon the young victims.

Following his guilty plea, the court sentenced Robert Stiles to three years in prison. In addition to his incarceration, he was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order, which is designed to restrict his contact with minors and prevent further offences. Moreover, he is now required to register as a sex offender indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring and public safety measures.
