MAN CONVICTED OF ATTEMPTED MURDER AND WEAPONS OFFENCE
Update 18/12/2025: Robert Reardon, aged 31, of High Street, Lowestoft, pleaded guilty to the offences on the first day of his trial at Aylesbury Crown Court on Monday 27 October.Returning to the same court today, Reardon received a total sentence of 20 years, consisting of 15 years in prison plus a further five on licence.

A man who brutally attacked his partner in Burnham Beeches.
Robert Reardon, age 31, residing on High Street in Lowestoft, Suffolk, admitted guilt at Aylesbury Crown Court to charges of attempted murder and possessing a bladed weapon on Monday (27/10).
The incident occurred on 23 May this year at approximately 4pm, when Reardon asked the victim, man in his twenties to use his mobile phone.
The two then went into nearby woodland, where the victim observed a message Reardon had written on his phone.
The message falsely claimed the victim had suicidal thoughts.
Reardon had planned to send this message to the victim’s mother to conceal his intention to attack the man, but the message failed to send.
Shortly after the victim discovered this message, Reardon launched a violent assault, repeatedly stabbing him with a steak knife.
Despite the victim begging for mercy, Reardon stabbed him in the back and throat, struck him with a candle, and attempted to choke him.
The victim fought back courageously, managing to disarm Reardon twice and try to run away.
The assault ended only when the victim escaped and reached the road, where he contacted a dog walker who called emergency services.
Reardon fled the scene but was apprehended the next day, on 24 May.
The victim sustained severe injuries but survived thanks to prompt medical treatment.
Detective Constable Connor Townsend of the Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit commented: “This was a horrific and sustained assault.
Reardon clearly intended to kill.
His guilty plea was the only appropriate outcome."
