GLASGOW MAN BANNED FOR LEAVING DOGS TO SUFFER IN HOT CAR
A man named Robert Porter has been found guilty of leaving his two Jack Russell terriers inside a vehicle during a hot summer day and has been subsequently banned from keeping animals for 10 years.
Porter was convicted after an investigation by the Scottish SPCA for causing suffering to the dogs in a Clydebank Shopping Centre car park on June 4th.
At Dumbarton Sheriff Court, he received a deprivation order which means the dogs will not be returned to him.
Additionally, Porter was ordered to pay £250 in compensation to the Scottish SPCA.
The senior inspector of the Scottish SPCA, Nicky Scott, highlighted that Porter ignored prior advice from inspectors about the dangers of leaving dogs in a vehicle, even on one of the hottest days of the year, and altered his story from leaving the dogs for 20 minutes to over an hour and a half.
He was deemed unfit to care for animals and has been banned from doing so, with both dogs placed in a loving new home to ensure their welfare.
