RUNCORN MAN JAILED FOR POSSESSING THOUSANDS OF SICK IMAGES OF CHILDREN AND ANIMALS
A RUNCORN man who had more than 600 indecent images of children, including pictures featuring animals such as dogs and donkeys, has been sentenced. The images stored by Robert Lee Storey were described as 'of the very worst kind that has come before this court' by Judge Merfyn Hughes QC.
Storey, 34, of Green Coppice in Norton, was apprehended after customs officers monitored DVDs mailed to him from Holland and discovered sexual images involving animals.
A search of his home revealed 670 indecent images of children on his computer, along with 17 additional images he had created himself.
Among the most disturbing material was a video depicting the abuse of a girl aged five or six.
Storey admitted to police that he downloaded the files out of 'morbid curiosity' amidst feelings of depression, and expressed remorse when charged.
Despite claiming to be disgusted by the content involving children, Judge Hughes noted that Storey had organized the images into three folders for easy access.
He had already pleaded guilty to making the images, possessing others, importing prohibited goods, and was sentenced to 12 months in prison.
Investigating officer PC Neil Burdekin highlighted the cooperation between customs and police in tackling such heinous crimes originating abroad, stressing that if offenders do not commit such crimes, abuse would decrease.
