ROBERT HILL AND MICHAEL DUNNE SENTENCED FOR DECADE OF ABUSE IN COVENTRY AND SMETHWICK

In a disturbing case that has shocked the communities of Coventry and Smethwick, two men have been convicted and sentenced for a prolonged period of sexual abuse involving young boys.

The crimes, which spanned over ten years, involved heinous acts committed by Robert Hill, aged 63, from Asprey Avenue in Smethwick, and Michael Dunne, aged 41, from George Street in Coventry.

Judge Robert Orme presided over the case at Birmingham Crown Court, where Hill was sentenced to a lengthy term of 13 years in prison.

Dunne received a six-year sentence for his involvement.

Both men faced a total of 26 charges, including indecent assault and gross indecency, reflecting the severity and extent of their criminal conduct.

Following their convictions, the court ordered that both men be registered on the sex offenders register for life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict their activities post-release.

Additionally, Hill was subjected to a sexual offences prevention order, which explicitly prohibits him from making any contact with children under the age of 16 once he is released from prison.

Prosecutor Philip Parker QC detailed the disturbing nature of the crimes, revealing that both offenders had repeatedly abused boys as young as 10 years old.

The abuse took place at two different residences in Smethwick, where the victims were subjected to a pattern of sustained and predatory sexual misconduct over many years.

This case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and the judicial system to address and punish such grave offenses, aiming to protect vulnerable children and prevent future abuse.
