LONGTON PERVERT ROBERT ELINOR SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF SCHOOLGIRL IN STOKE-ON-TRENT
In a case that has shocked the community of Longton, Robert Elinor, aged 26, has been sentenced to four years in prison after being found guilty of engaging in sexual activities with a teenage girl. The disturbing incident came to light during a court hearing at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, where details of Elinor’s misconduct were laid bare.According to prosecutor Neil Ahuja, Elinor initially established contact with the young girl through Facebook, a social media platform that has increasingly become a conduit for inappropriate and dangerous interactions. Over time, Elinor manipulated the girl, who was still a school student, by offering her cigarettes and alcohol, substances that he used to gain her trust and lower her inhibitions.
The court heard that Elinor took advantage of the girl in a secluded field, where he sexually abused her. Following this, he continued to pursue a relationship with her, taking her for rides in his sports car and meeting her approximately three times each month. During these encounters, he supplied her with alcohol and cigarettes, further exerting control and influence over her.
Despite the girl’s initial distress and her attempts to confide in school staff, she ultimately chose not to support the prosecution, which led to strained relations with her parents. Nevertheless, her relationship with Elinor persisted, culminating in full unprotected sexual intercourse. The girl also performed a sex act on him at his request, an act that the court described as part of a grooming process.
Mr. Ahuja emphasized that Elinor’s actions involved grooming, with the victim describing herself as feeling confused and brainwashed by him. The defendant’s buying of alcohol, cigarettes, and offering money in exchange for sex were highlighted as manipulative tactics.
The court acknowledged the profound impact of Elinor’s behavior on the girl, who experienced feelings of pressure and depression as a result of the abuse. Elinor, who resides on Tay Close in Longton, pleaded guilty to four charges related to sexual activity with a child.
During mitigation, lawyer Anis Ali expressed remorse on behalf of Elinor, noting that the defendant’s partner and family remain supportive. Ali stated, “He has made an awful mistake. He is unlikely to repeat the mistake.”
Judge David Fletcher, delivering the sentence, condemned Elinor’s conduct, stating, “This involves an element of grooming. You knew her age and that she was a schoolgirl. There is no doubt this girl became extremely flattered. You had a sports car, you had money. As time went on, you did other things that were wrong on every level. You bought alcohol for her, you bought cigarettes, and then you started to offer her money. You knew that she was involving herself in this behaviour. You did nothing to stop it, you did everything to encourage it, to satisfy your own sexual desire and demands.”
He further added, “She was still a child. She was going through all sorts of changes which are reflected in her stage of development, and you took advantage of that in the most callous way possible.”
As part of his sentence, Elinor was placed on the sex offenders’ register for life and ordered to pay a surcharge of £120. The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of grooming and the importance of safeguarding vulnerable young individuals from exploitation.
