ROBERT DOLLAN FROM TAIN AND DINGWALL JAILED FOR CHILD INDECENCY IMAGES
In a significant development in a case involving child exploitation, Robert Dollan, a resident of Tain, was brought into custody after a series of legal proceedings related to the possession of indecent images.The incident initially drew attention when Dollan was scheduled to stand trial at Inverness Sheriff Court earlier this year.
However, just moments before the trial was set to commence, Dollan managed to abscond, evading the court's jurisdiction and leaving authorities searching for him.
It was later revealed that law enforcement officials successfully located and detained Dollan, who was then brought before Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood.
During the court hearing, Dollan, aged 31, admitted to downloading and possessing indecent images and videos depicting children, with activities spanning from February to November 2014.
His actions prompted a serious legal response, resulting in an 18-month prison sentence.
Furthermore, Dollan faced additional charges for failing to appear at his scheduled trial, which led Sheriff Fleetwood to impose an extra nine months on his sentence.
As part of the court's ruling, Dollan was also ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, reflecting the gravity of his offenses and the ongoing concern for public safety.
Following his sentencing, Dollan was released from custody and is now residing in Dingwall, where he continues to serve the terms of his sentence and comply with the sex offender registration requirements.
