Robert Daniels, aged 58 and a resident of Old Market Place in Bodmin, confessed to attempting to engage in sexual conversations with an online undercover operative whom he believed to be under 16 years old.
These exchanges occurred in August 2024 and included discussions about masturbation and sexual acts.
Additionally, between July and December 2015, Daniels attempted to communicate with an individual he thought was also under 16, discussing the solicitation of images and sexual anatomy.
He was sentenced to 34 weeks in prison, suspended for two years, and was ordered to undergo treatment for alcohol dependency and mental health conditions.
Moreover, a sexual harm prevention order was imposed for ten years, prohibiting him from having any supervised contact with children under 16 unless certain criteria were met, and restricting his internet use.
