GLASGOW SEX PREDATOR PREYED ON GIRL WHILE SHE PRETENDED TO SLEEP
A sex predator named Robert Armstrong, aged 41, has been convicted of inappropriately touching a five-year-old girl multiple times between January 2014 and December 2015 at a flat in Glasgow's Drumchapel. The assaults occurred when Armstrong would wait until a woman caring for the girl left the house to walk a dog before attacking her.
The victim's pre-recorded testimony was played to jurors, revealing that the girl kept the incident quiet until 2020 when she disclosed it to a family member.
During the trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court, fiscal Danielle McGuinness described how Armstrong would come into the child's room when she was pretending to sleep, believing she was asleep, but she would wake up.
The girl tried to signal to him that she was awake without opening her eyes to get him to stop.
Armstrong was found guilty of sexually assaulting her.
His defense lawyer, Raymond McIlwham, stated that this was a severe case and noted that Armstrong had never served a custodial sentence before.
The judge deferred sentencing until next month for background reports and ordered Armstrong to be placed on the sex offenders register.
As he left the court, Armstrong remarked, 'It's a f*****g joke, man.'
