HUCKNALL MAN WHO ASSAULTED EX-PARTNER AND DAMAGED HER CAR JAILED FOR 14 MONTHS
A man repeatedly punched his ex-partner and stabbed four tyres on her car with a chisel in front of schoolchildren.Youngsters outside a Nottinghamshire primary school witnessed Ricky Tinsley attack the woman after demanding money from her.
Nottingham Crown Court heard the woman had posted cash through the letterbox of his new girlfriend's home.
But the 36-year-old Tinsley, who was on licence for robbery, claimed the money had not arrived, so he arranged to meet her outside a primary school to collect it.
First he grabbed her throat, then pushed her back into a fence and punched her.
Jon Fountain, prosecuting, said the woman fought back and managed to get to her feet - but Tinsley continued to punch her.
A member of the public intervened and the violence stopped.
Tinsley then got out a chisel and stabbed into her four car tyres, puncturing each one.
Two children were screaming and shouting for him to stop hurting her.
A witness described it as the most vicious thing she had ever seen.
The woman had pain to her head, a bruised right leg, and reddening to her neck.
She is now protected by a restraining order until further notice.
Tinsley, of Lilac Road, Hucknall, received 14 months in prison for possessing a bladed article, which he will serve half of, and will then be on licence and supervision for a year.
Concurrent sentences were imposed for battery and criminal damage.
Judge Steven Coupland told Tinsley he had pleaded guilty to the offences which happened on March 21.
He said Tinsley had pulled her hair, threatened to headbutt her, and referred to pulling out the chisel and damaging her car.
"She, understandably, was scared for her life.
You left her terrified you might have gone further once you pulled the chisel out." He added that Tinsley wanted the restraining order and had done well in custody, with the best job in prison.
The court noted his 17 convictions over 52 offences, mostly for dishonesty.
