MAN JAILED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE OFFENCES AGAINST DAUGHTER
A 41-year-old man has been sentenced to prison today for perpetrating domestic violence against his own daughter.Ricky Richardson, who resides on Denbigh Road in Mold, had previously pleaded guilty to charges including controlling and coercive conduct, eight counts of assault, and threats to kill.
He appeared at Mold Crown Court on Thursday, October 9, where he received a three-year prison sentence.
Richardson engaged in behavior designed to instill fear within the household, physically assaulted his daughter without cause, and threatened to take his own life if he did not obtain his demands.
On some occasions, he hinted at self-harm, but when his daughter attempted to stop the incidents, he responded with strikes, including an attack with a hammer when she asked him to leave after a disturbance.
Detective Constable Danielle Craig, who led the investigation, stated: “The victim in this case is incredibly brave in coming forward and speaking to the police about the violence, control and coercion she was subjected to at home by her own father – the person who should have protected her.
“I commend her for her courage in speaking out and I hope she can now rebuild her life, without the fear of violence in her home.
“We continue to act on any report of domestic violence and of controlling and coercive behaviour and we will not stop in our efforts to bring perpetrators of abuse to justice.”
