JAMIE GUDGER/PIERCE OF BROUGHTON AND GWESPYR FACES COURT PROCEEDINGS IN WREXHAM AND MOLD

Update 18/12/2025: Jamie Gudger, aged 40 and without a fixed residence but originating from the Mold area, received a prison sentence of 30 months along with a three-year extended license on Wednesday.

The court heard that Gudger had previously admitted guilt to stalking Natalie Wood and damaging property at her Winsford residence between September 4 and 24 of this year, during proceedings at Warrington Magistrates Court.

Additionally, he was sentenced for breaching a restraining order that was granted to his former wife, Sarah Griffiths, in June 2024.

Prosecutor Karl Scholz told the court that Gudger was in a relationship with Miss Wood, which ended after she discovered he had a history of previous convictions, including offenses against his ex-wife.

For approximately two weeks, the prosecution stated, Gudger sent her and her family numerous messages on social media and even visited her home without permission.

When Miss Wood approached him to ask him to leave, he reportedly cornered her and caused her significant fear before damaging part of her property.

Mr Scholz added that Gudger also sent threats indicating he might self-harm.

On September 7, he used a fictitious account to contact her, then made threats through that account, continuing to do so regarding a family gathering.

The court considered Miss Wood’s personal victim impact statement, which she read aloud during the proceedings, describing how she now feels like a shadow of her former self and her mental health and anxiety have severely worsened.

Their ordeal led her family to stay in a hotel for two weeks, and they expressed that Gudger’s actions had shattered their lives.

It was also revealed that her family now carries a panic alarm for safety reasons.

The judge, Simon Berkson, was informed that Gudger had sent messages to his ex-wife via Facebook Messenger on September 9 and 10, breaching the restraining order.

Defence lawyer Peter Barnett argued that Gudger denied that Miss Wood was unaware of his past convictions and suggested that his actions were linked to lifelong mental health issues.

He added that prior to suffering a mental health breakdown, Gudger had been cooperating well with probation, despite their assessment that he posed a high risk of harm.

Judge Berkson stated: “You breached an order on two occasions, contacting someone you know you are not supposed to, which, although minor on the surface, involved intimidation.

Furthermore, you continued to harass Miss Wood after the relationship ended, sending multiple messages, hijacking accounts, and issuing suicide threats, all aimed at causing her distress.” He emphasized that the case warranted a lengthy custodial sentence, concluding that Gudger was indeed a dangerous individual, confirming the probation service’s assessment of high risk.

Gudger was sentenced to 30 months in prison for stalking Miss Wood, with no separate penalty for the criminal damage, and received concurrent six-month sentences for the breaches of the restraining order and related offences.

He was also subjected to a 10-year restraining order prohibiting contact with Miss Wood.

In December 2022, Jamie Gudger, of Cherrydale Road in Broughton, appeared at Wrexham Magistrates Court to be sentenced.

The 37-year-old had previously admitted that between October 16 and November 7, his conduct involved stalking that caused serious alarm or distress.

Back in February 2014, Gudger was released from custody, having changed his name to Jamie Pierce.

In an earlier case in August 2012, Gudger, then aged 27 and residing on New Road, Gwespyr, was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison after admitting to having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

He was also ordered to register as a sex offender and prohibited from contacting the victim.

Judge Niclas Parry described the case, stating, “The aggravating features were the substantial disparity in age and the fact he was sexually experienced and a father.

You took advantage of a child who had an obvious crush on you.” The judge noted that Gudger arranged to meet the girl in a forest, where they engaged in unprotected sexual intercourse, demonstrating a blatant disregard for her welfare.

“Your conduct towards her was not only shameful, but demeaning, as if you regarded her as nothing other than a sexual object,” he added.

While acknowledging that Gudger had no previous sexual offenses and pleaded guilty, Judge Parry emphasized that there was no evidence of threat or violence.

Prosecutor Maria Massellis explained that police were contacted after the girl’s mother discovered distressing text messages on her daughter’s phone.

Although Gudger had 22 previous convictions, none were of a sexual nature.

His defense lawyer, Jonathan Duffy, stated that Gudger recognized he engaged in a short-lived but consensual sexual relationship with the 14-year-old girl and acknowledged that the court would consider this seriously.
