HARTLEPOOL RAPIST SENTENCED TO 11 YEARS FOR TEEN ASSAULT
A man named Rhys Conn, aged 33, who is from Blackhall Colliery near Hartlepool, was convicted of multiple sexual offenses, including two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault, following an incident involving a 17-year-old girl. The court heard that Conn offered the girl a lift home from a party, during which he took her to his house and ignored her pleas to stop as he raped her.
The victim expressed her disbelief at the assault, stating she 'could not believe someone would do something so evil.' Prosecutor Jane Waugh revealed that Conn 'got the victim into his van by fraud' and took her to his house instead of her own, which was considered akin to abduction.
Conn then stalked her over the night and continued the assault despite her protests.
He denied wrongdoing but was found guilty of six offenses, including the rapes and sexual assaults.
As a result, he was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
The court also issued a restraining order banning Conn from contacting the victim or referring to her on social media and mandated that he register as a sex offender for life.
The judge described Conn's actions as 'disgraceful' and noted the significant emotional impact on the victim, emphasizing she would 'have to live with what you did to her for the rest of her life.' The victim had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and was too afraid to leave her home afterward, reflecting the profound effect of the crime.
