BIRMINGHAM SCHOOLGIRL, 14, WOKE TO BEING RAPED BY STRANGER WITH HAND OVER HER MOUTH
Rhyce Longstaff has received a substantial jail sentence after meeting a 14-year-old girl in Birmingham city centre and sexually attacking her after she passed out.Longstaff was found guilty of three charges of rape following a trial.
He was from Haydock Close, Hodge Hill, and has previous convictions including robbery, affray, and threatening someone with a knife.
At Birmingham Crown Court on March 6, he was branded a 'dangerous' criminal and sentenced to 16 years in prison with an extended six-year license.
The court heard that Longstaff, along with a friend, encountered the girl and two of her friends in early October 2024.
He invited them back to Sutton Street, Aston, where she drank alcohol and smoked cannabis.
The girl lost consciousness in an upstairs bedroom, and Longstaff repeatedly sexually assaulted her after she awoke.
He initially put his hand over her mouth to silence her cries and then raped her on two further occasions before leaving with her phone to prevent her from calling for help.
The victim described losing confidence, self-esteem, experiencing nightmares, and attempting to take her own life due to the trauma.
She expressed relief after Longstaff's arrest but said she still struggles with the memories.
Longstaff appeared via video link during his sentencing, showing no remorse, and his lawyer had nothing positive to say about him.
