MAN JAILED FOR 'DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CAMPAIGN' IN BIRMINGHAM
A man known as Reuben Hylton, with no fixed residence, received a six-year prison term at Birmingham Crown Court after being convicted of a sustained campaign of domestic abuse against his partner, according to statements from West Midlands Police.The police reported that Hylton had a history of serious assaults within the domestic setting and was involved in several violent episodes, including stabbing his partner with scissors, as well as strangling and choking her.
The investigation also found that he threatened her relatives and caused property damage by smashing windows at her aunt’s house and that of a family friend.
He was arrested following an appeal on social media in October 2018.
Throughout the trial, it was established that Hylton, then 28 years old, was responsible for nine criminal charges, which ranged from coercive control and malicious wounding to assault causing actual bodily harm, threats to kill, and criminal damage.
Detective Sergeant Richard Stanley described him as a violent individual who exerted control and tried to frighten his victims into silence, commending their bravery.
The court’s ruling signifies the seriousness of his offending, resulting in a six-year custodial sentence.
