LONDON MAN CONVICTED OF CONTROLLING, COERCIVE AND VIOLENT ABUSE OF PREGNANT EX-PARTNER
Remmel Parker, aged 20, was found guilty of controlling and coercive behavior, as well as multiple counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The court proceedings revealed that Parker subjected Demi Fleming, who was 18 at the time, to a violent campaign including once smothering her with a pillow and punching her.
At one point, he forcibly made her jump out of a second-floor window.
Video evidence included a police interview where Ms Fleming stated that the violence 'was always worse when I was pregnant.' Detective Constable Jay Gasson described Parker as a 'dangerous and violent perpetrator of domestic abuse,' emphasizing the high level of violence and control he exerted over Ms Fleming.
The victim was allegedly threatened and intimidated, which kept her silent for three years.
The court also convicted Parker of breaching a non-molestation order, and the judge highlighted the danger Parker posed to Ms Fleming, noting that 'this conviction will hopefully help Ms Fleming move on, safe in the knowledge that he will no longer pose a risk to her.'
