POLICE SCOTLAND EMPLOYEE JAILED FOR SEXUAL MISCONDUCT AND SLEAZY COMMENTS
A shamed Police Scotland employee, Michael Warren, 64, from Denny, Stirlingshire, intimately touched a colleague and made sleazy comments to others, claiming it was just 'banter'.Warren pressed a woman on the buttocks at his workplace in Glasgow's Cardonald.
According to court reports, the victim told Warren she would report him to a supervisor, to which he replied: "I didn't use my hand, I used a ruler." Falklands veteran Warren also made sexual remarks to two other female employees at the centre.
One victim recounted Warren saying, "watching your a*** wriggle as you're brushing the floor," while another reported him saying he was going to perform a sex act on himself after his shift.
Warren preyed on his victims between September 2016 and July 2023.
He pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting the first woman and admitted to uttering sexual comments to the other women.
His defence argued that his behaviour stemmed from a misunderstanding of what is acceptable, influenced by his military background, and that conduct tolerated in the military was not acceptable in wider society.
The court sentenced Warren to 180 hours of unpaid work, a 12-month supervision order, and placed him on the sex offenders register for one year.
The sheriff emphasized that Warren's behaviour caused psychological harm to his victims and highlighted that his actions were persistent over several years, often when victims were alone, leaving them distressed, uncomfortable, and fearful.
The judge stated that his conduct was unacceptable in any environment and expressed society's disapproval, noting that Warren's claims of cultural influence did not excuse his behaviour.
