BIRMINGHAM MAN EXPOSED HIMSELF AND ASSAULTED WOMAN IN TERRIFYING INCIDENT
A woman responded with a firm "absolutely not" and vigorously closed the door when a man arrived at her residence and displayed his erect penis to her.The victim had been assisting Reagan Bates but observed that within a few weeks, his behavior had become increasingly erratic, with her noticing him smelling increasingly of cannabis.
Bates, who lives in Church Vale, Handsworth, admitted to charges of exposure, theft, criminal damage, possession of cannabis, and three counts of assault.
The incident of exposure happened after Bates made multiple visits to her home on the same day.
He returned around 10:45 pm, appearing intoxicated and uttering, "I'm in deep hell." Prosecutor Seamran Sidhu stated, "Then he returned at approximately 10:55 pm.
When she opened the door, she saw he had his erect penis in his left hand." She told him firmly "absolutely not" and shut the door.
Moments later, when she reopened it, he had put his genital away and apologized.
A few days later, during his arrest, he threw food around his cell and spat at the surveillance screen.
In a victim impact statement, the woman remarked, "Over two or three weeks, I witnessed his decline.
I can recognize the smell of cannabis.
When he first visited, he behaved differently than on the day of the incident.
I only knew him for about a month, but his behavior escalated dramatically." On Tuesday, September 9, at Birmingham Crown Court, Bates received a 12-month prison sentence.
He also admitted to breaching a suspended sentence for robbery and received additional sentences for theft and assault related to incidents at a hospital and a railway station.
