2013: RAPIST JAILED FOR ATTACKS ON TEENS
A businessman has received a five-year prison sentence following a jury conviction for attempting to rape a teenage girl and sexually assaulting another.Raymond Talbot, aged 46, was identified as having tried to assault an 18-year-old in May of the previous year and was also found guilty of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in 2006, as revealed during the trial at Bolton Crown Court.
During sentencing, Recorder Alan Conrad QC stated that Talbot, from Waters Edge in Farnworth, had shown no remorse for his actions.
Talbot claimed that the attempted rape occurred while he was sleepwalking, but the jury doubted his explanation.
Evidence presented indicated that in the early hours, a naked Talbot entered the bedroom of the sleeping 18-year-old girl.
She awoke when he placed his hand on her stomach and told her “Shush, everything will be all right,” before pushing her onto the bed.
The victim was described as being in complete shock by Recorder Conrad.
Witnesses at the scene, other girls present at the property, heard the disturbance and tried to access the room, but Talbot initially prevented them.
The judge emphasized that the incident was deeply distressing for the victim.
Additionally, Talbot, who owns a roofing business, was convicted of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in a kitchen in 2006.
Along with the prison term, he is required to register as a sex offender and is banned from working with children indefinitely.
