GARDENER WHO KICKED HIS GIRLFRIEND 'LIKE A FOOTBALL' LEAVES HER WITH RUPTURED SPLEEN
A GARDENER kicked his girlfriend 'like a football' leaving her with injuries which could have killed her.Raymond McWilliams ruptured his partner's spleen in the vicious assault before refusing to call an ambulance for the stricken woman and putting her to bed.
The 26-year-old was at his girlfriend's house along with a friend when the victim fell and hurt her head, leaving her upset, the High Court in Glasgow heard on Thursday.
Paul Kearney, fiscal depute, told the court that McWilliams tried to give her first aid, but she fended him off.
And as the victim lay on her hands and knees, McWilliams began booting her in the stomach.
Mr Kearney said: '[McWilliams] was saying to her "I was only trying to help, don"t make me do this".' Their friend who witnessed the callous attack later described the kicks as like 'someone volleying a football'.
The victim eventually managed to sneak out of the flat - despite being in great pain - to get help after McWilliams had fallen asleep.
An ambulance rushed her to hospital, where it was discovered her spleen had been ruptured as a result of the beating.
After cops caught up with McWilliams he told them he had kicked his partner three times, but that only one had been 'forceful' and had struck her shoulder.
McWilliams, - who had previously been jailed for another attack on his lover less than a year ago - was remanded in custody after admitting this latest attack, which took place at a property in Yoker, on August 31, last year.
Judge Lord Turnbull deferred sentence on McWilliams, of Howat Street, Glasgow, until next month for reports.
