RAYMOND LAMBIE FROM MARCH INVOLVED IN CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CASE AT CAMBRIDGE CROWN COURT

In a disturbing case heard at Cambridge Crown Court, Raymond Lambie, a 65-year-old resident of The Avenue, March, was found to possess and produce a significant collection of indecent images involving children.

The investigation revealed that Lambie’s computer contained a total of 317 illicit photographs, some of which were classified as the most serious category by police authorities.

During the court proceedings, it was disclosed that Lambie’s motives for downloading these images were deeply rooted in his own traumatic past.

Lambie, who had been a victim of abuse during his youth, explained that his actions were driven by a desire to revisit a period of his life that he had long idealized.

The images he viewed included disturbing scenes of altar boys being tied up and subjected to abuse, incidents that bore a striking resemblance to the abuse Lambie himself endured as a child.

John Kellett, representing Lambie, provided context for his client’s behavior, revealing that Lambie had been exploited by his own father and was forced into working as a child prostitute.

Kellett emphasized that Lambie did not derive any gratification from viewing the images; rather, the material served as a painful reminder of his lost childhood.

He further explained that Lambie’s personal circumstances were challenging—he had lost his job at a charitable foundation after his employers discovered his homosexuality, and he had been battling alcoholism and various health issues.

Prosecutor Sally Hickling confirmed that Lambie’s computer contained 317 indecent images, with three classified as the most serious type.

The court heard that Lambie pleaded guilty to charges of making and possessing indecent photographs of children.

Judge Jonathan Haworth, addressing the court, acknowledged the severity of the offense but expressed the view that imprisonment might not be the most effective way to address Lambie’s underlying issues.

Instead, he imposed a three-year community order, which includes participation in a sexual offender treatment program.

The judge also prohibited Lambie from having contact with anyone under the age of 18, banned him from using a computer, and ordered him to register as a sex offender.

This case highlights the complex interplay between past trauma and criminal behavior, and the court’s decision reflects an attempt to balance punishment with rehabilitation.
