MARK WILSON FROM CAMBRIDGESHIRE SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS AND INDECENT IMAGES IN NORWICH

A man identified as Mark Wilson has been sentenced to a significant prison term after being found guilty of multiple serious offences, including sexual assault by strangulation and possession of indecent images.

The sentencing took place at Norwich Crown Court on Friday, 10 May 2024, where Wilson, aged 32 and residing on Gaul Road in March, Cambridgeshire, was handed a three-year prison sentence.

In addition to his incarceration, Wilson was subjected to court-imposed restraining orders designed to protect his two victims from any further contact.

Furthermore, he was issued a sexual harm prevention order, which aims to restrict his behavior and prevent future offenses of a similar nature.

Wilson had previously entered guilty pleas to several charges, including two counts of sexual assault by strangulation, one count of sexual assault, possession of an extreme pornographic image, and three counts of making an indecent photograph of a child.

These admissions laid the groundwork for the court’s sentencing decision.

The incidents for which Wilson was convicted occurred between September 2016 and the end of 2017 in Thetford.

During this period, he twice strangled a teenage girl, once to the extent that she lost consciousness and repeatedly passed out.

These acts of violence inflicted severe trauma on the victim, leaving lasting emotional scars.

Wilson’s criminal behavior extended beyond physical assault; he also attempted to indecently touch another young girl, further demonstrating his predatory conduct.

An investigation was promptly launched following reports of his actions.

Authorities seized Wilson’s electronic devices, including a mobile phone and a laptop, for forensic analysis.

Investigators uncovered disturbing content on these devices, which contained videos and still images classified as Category A, B, and C indecent material.

These findings confirmed the possession of highly illegal and explicit content, adding to the severity of his crimes.

During the court proceedings, a statement was read aloud by one of Wilson’s victims, who described the ongoing emotional impact of her ordeal.

She recounted her struggles with sleep, her descent into depression, and the persistent trauma that continues to affect her daily life.

Her words highlighted the profound and lasting effects of Wilson’s actions.

The victim also expressed her outrage at Wilson’s apparent indifference to the gravity of his offenses, describing his attitude as “seemingly blasé” when it came to committing sexual crimes against young women.

She concluded her statement with a poignant reflection, stating, “The nightmare of what you did remains fresh in my mind,” underscoring the deep scars left by his predatory behavior.
