RAPIST JAILED FOR LIFE AGED JUST 14 BACK IN JAIL FOR BREACHING SEX OFFENDERS REGISTER
Raymond Graham, who was sentenced to life imprisonment at only 14 years old for a brutal sexual assault, has returned to custody for violating his sex offender registration conditions. In 2003, Graham was convicted of raping a woman in her 40s after forcibly entering her home and attacking her.
His life sentence included a recommendation that he serve at least three years and ten months in prison.
He later encountered trouble in 2010 when he escaped from custody by walking out of an open prison, resulting in an additional 12-month jail term.
After his release, Graham, also known as Connor and now aged 37, established a relationship with a woman in South Shields, moving in with her and her eight-year-old daughter.
He failed to notify authorities of this living arrangement, breaching the conditions of his sex offender registration.
Police arrested him after intelligence suggested he had not registered his new address or provided notification about living with a child.
Furthermore, he was also six days late for his annual registration, leading to guilty pleas on three counts of breaching sex offender registration rules.
During the court proceedings, Newcastle Crown Court learned that Graham claimed he did not inform authorities because of concerns expressed by his partner, though these details were not disclosed publicly.
It was also noted that Graham, residing on Trevelyan Drive, Newbiggin Hall, Newcastle, feels remorseful and had been attempting to build a business and lead a constructive life.
Following the discovery of these breaches, Graham was recalled to prison and sentenced to four months behind bars.
His lawyer, Sue Hirst, remarked that his original conviction from childhood would likely not result in a life sentence today.
